My friend Sharon came over for dinner the other night and was wearing the hottest glasses I have ever seen. I asked her where she got them and she laughed and said, “you know, I got these for $12″. I was flabbergasted. She said she’d send me the website, and she did.
It’s Zenni Optical. They have a huge selection of frames for $8, $9.95, $12.95, $15.95 up to $39.95 (was the highest price I saw). That floors me. I tried on a cute pair at the eye doctor’s today, and checked out the price tag–$219 just for the frames! Once you add lenses, coating, replacement warranty, anti-scratch, UV guard, etc…you’re well on your way to (or over) the $300 mark.
At the Zenni Optical site, you just choose a style of frames you like, type in your glasses prescription, pay $4.95 flat-rate shipping no matter how many pairs you order, and sit back and wait for the mail to arrive. (From Hong Kong, so Sharon tells me–I guess that’s how they able to fill the eyeglass “prescriptions”?)
I went and got an eye exam today (my last one was in 2005…as my cracked lenses will attest) so I could have a free pair of trail contacts to wear at the wedding this weekend, and to get my glasses prescription so I could go shopping online for some extremely affordable glasses. Yes they have these hideous monsters,
but wait, they also have…these!

I love those red ones!!
they have black and pink ones too Anne….

I totally bought three pairs of glasses from Zenni recently. I am pleased with all 3 of them! I did a review of them on my site here:
